Prices for wine and champagne imported from Europe may increase by 50% by the New Year. Such an opinion in an interview News.ru said Vadim Drobiz, director of the Federal and Regional Alcohol Markets Research Center (CIFRRA).

According to him, one of the reasons for the increase in prices will be increased taxes on alcohol imports from EU countries such as France, Italy, Spain and Portugal.

Drobiz estimates that in the coming months the prices of wines and sparkling wines from Europe, which currently cost 400-600 rubles, may increase by 200-250 rubles. According to him, this will happen in September-November.

The expert also noted that importers may not be in a hurry to raise prices because they have alcohol stocks in their warehouses.

In addition, Drobiz predicts an increase in the price of alcohol from the lower price segment from January 1. This will be due to an increase in excise taxes and minimum retail prices. The rest of the alcohol could become more expensive in February, he noted.
