Egyptian authorities announced the possibility of exporting Russian wheat from Egypt to neighboring countries if the Russian Federation establishes a global logistics distribution center in the economic zone of the Suez Canal. According to available information, if a logistics distribution center is established in the Suez Canal economic zone, Egypt can increase its wheat purchases in Russia and then supply this wheat and other grains to neighboring countries.

According to Egyptian officials, such a logistics center in the Suez region will become the center for the storage and trade of wheat and other grains in Egypt, the Arab states and the countries of North and East Africa.

Cairo emphasized that Moscow’s suspension of the grain agreement with Ukraine and Turkey under the supervision of the UN caused Egypt, like other importing countries, to suffer from the growth and fluctuations in world wheat prices.

In order to create a strategic reserve according to the material, on August 2, the Egyptian authorities signed a contract for the purchase of 360,000 tons of Russian wheat. This batch will be shipped from September 1 to 10.
