In accordance with the agreement with the German company OBI GmbH, the new owners of the network are required to rename hypermarkets in Russia.
OBI was owned by a company affiliated with the Russian Starbucks. Previously, the retailer had applied to Rospatent to register the trademarks HOBI, OBBI, IdeaFix, Inhouse and QBI.
In March 2022, the OBI hypermarket chain ceased its operations in Russia. OBI GmbH has transferred its Russian business to Boris Lyubohits, founder of the consulting firm Audit Group and the legal agency Cesar Consulting. Later it became known that OBI sold a controlling stake in the Russian network to businessman Josef Liokumovich, and 40% of the shares were bought by a group of investment and construction companies MAX.
In January of this year, OBI in Russia was owned by five legal entities, 90% owned by Modul-2 and 10% owned by businessman Valid Korchagin.
