Andrey Berezhny, head of Russia’s largest shoe company Ralf Ringer, was accused of tax evasion. It has been reported DEA News.

Berezhnoy personally spoke about his case at the council meeting of the Center for Public Procedures “Trade Against Corruption”. Now the entrepreneur is reportedly under house arrest.

Berezhnoy is accused of registering non-existent transactions with joint stock companies in order to reduce taxes in the period 2014-2016. The man claims his innocence and also stressed that the statute of limitations on the case has expired.

“We are solvents, ready to prove our innocence in court, but we continue to confiscate property,” he said.

It is reported that a criminal case may be brought against Berezhny in the near future, threatening him with five years in prison if found guilty.
