Aeroflot plans to complete the insurance agreement with foreign tenants for foreign-made aircraft by the end of 2023. About it in an interview vedomosti said Sergei Aleksandrovsky, the airline’s chief executive. He stressed that the process is highly prepared.
“We have increased the number of aircraft we are ready to complete the insurance deal with from 47 to 61. These are long-range and medium-range aircraft of the group’s airlines, both Aeroflot itself and Rossiya and Pobeda. “In total there are currently 102 deregistered aircraft, which creates a certain amount of comfort for us with the current restrictions on international flights,” Aleksandrovsky said.
The airline chief added that the insurance deal for 61 aircraft is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year. At the same time, he noted that the process itself has a complex structure.
Alexandrovsky also reminded that in September last year, Aeroflot signed an agreement with UAC to purchase 339 Russian-made aircraft. According to him, it is planned to sign 34 SJ-100 and 18 MS-21 supply contracts with Rostec-owned rental company Aviacapital Service in September.
“We expect the first two SJ-100s to be delivered by the end of this year and the MS-21s by the end of next year. All “Superjets” under this contract will go to airlines “Russia”, MS-21 – “Aeroflot” and “Russia”.
At the same time, the head of Aeroflot emphasized that Russian airlines need domestic long-range aircraft, and the company is preparing for the fact that long-range foreign aircraft will eventually have to be withdrawn from the fleet.
“We have many international destinations, not just the Far East. But first of all, it is clear that we need to ensure transportation accessibility within the country. And if we start to face some kind of famine – which we don’t see yet – then of course we will focus primarily on domestic needs, ensuring transport accessibility of our regions,” he said. .
Aleksandrovsky noted that the production of long-haul aircraft is already being discussed with the manufacturer. “There is already a project, this is the PD-35. Of course, Aeroflot also expects a new long-range aircraft from the industry.”
