SMS mails and spam calls to Russians providing goods and services accounted for 31.8% of all advertising law violations last year and ranked first among them. Nikitina said that over the past year, the service has filed 4,016 antitrust lawsuits for violations of advertising laws and unfair competition. As a result, 1,831 fines were imposed for a total of 133.4 million rubles.
The Federal Antimonopoly Service investigates approximately 16,000 complaints of violations of advertising law and 3,000 complaints of unfair competition each year. The agency said breaches in these areas hit consumers and small businesses the most.
