Russian group Aeroflot, which also includes the airline of the same name, plans to hire more than 900 flight attendants in 2023. It was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the airline’s press service.
“In 2023, the group’s airlines increased their recruitment of stewardesses due to growth in production activities (23.5% increase in passenger traffic and 11.9% increase in the number of flights operated). For example, since the beginning of 2023, Aeroflot alone has recruited 452 flight attendants, more than 150 people are training and will start working by the end of September. Pobeda Airlines will hire approximately 300 flight attendants in 2023.
According to the airline, the staff of flight attendants of the Aeroflot group in 2022 amounted to 8,827 thousand people, in 2021 – 9,404 thousand people. According to an Aeroflot representative, the reduction in flight attendants in 2022 is due to a natural exit.
“In 2022, group companies did not reduce flight attendants, moreover, we noted that the proposed wages for new employees are higher than the market, but despite this, the natural exit of flight attendants, the largest of Pobeda airline, continues. “It’s about adjusting plans for the arrival of low-cost aircraft,” a company representative said.
At the same time, it is also noted that employees often leave of their own volition.
In addition, the company emphasized that Aeroflot Group increased the number of female pilots to 97 in 2022. As noted in Aeroflot’s 2021 report, the group is actively recruiting female pilots.
Thus, as of the end of 2021, 94 women worked in the flight departments of the airlines of the group, of which 71 at Aeroflot, 16 at Pobeda Airlines and seven at Rossiya Airlines.
In the 2022 report, it is stated that “As of the end of 2022, 97 women worked in the flight departments of Aeroflot Group airlines, including 62 women in Aeroflot, 7 in Pobeda and 28 in Rossiya”.
