There are fewer citizens in Russia who want to buy alcohol online. 54% now, 63% a year ago, writer The newspaper Vedomosti cites a study by Romir.

Last year, customers of the Krasnoye i Beloe (52%), Pyaterochka (34%) and Ozon (26%) chains showed interest in purchasing alcohol online. Now their shares have dropped to 24%, 23% and 22% respectively. Romir analysts attributed the trend to a change in the assortment in retail chains and rising alcohol prices. Artem Sokolov, President of the Internet Commerce Companies Association, added that the trend is also influenced by the development of the illicit alcohol market. According to the Ministry of Finance, the shadow segment of the sale of alcohol is currently about 30 billion rubles. Therefore, according to Sokolov, the current demand for alcohol on the Internet is already met by the existing “black” market.

Now in Russia there is a ban on the sale of alcohol on the Internet with delivery to your home by courier. You can only order alcohol online with a later pickup. The study says that 43% of respondents were unaware of such a ban.
51% of respondents said they did not consider it an effective way to deal with alcoholism.

Attempts were made to lift the ban on the sale of alcohol on the Internet in Russia. Therefore, the authorities would conduct an experiment on the sale of domestic wine through the Russian Post from November 1 this year. But in July, the plans were canceled, the corresponding invoice was excluded from consideration by the Russian Post.
