In recent years, gas demand from the United States by European and Chinese energy companies has increased significantly, especially after the start of special operations. In this respect informs financial times.

According to the newspaper, the total volume of contracts for the supply of American liquefied natural gas (LNG) between Chinese and European companies in 2021 amounted to about 13 million tons per year. In 2022, this figure nearly quadrupled to 51.2 million tons, and contracts were signed for the supply of 15.8 million tons in the first half of this year, surpassing results for the full 2021.

According to statistics from S&P Global Commodity Insights, the EU and China together account for around 40% of the volume of American LNG supply contracts signed between 2021 and the end of June this year. China’s share is 24.4%, the EU occupied the rest. The publication says that just last week, the Americans signed major contracts with the Chinese and Europeans for gas supplies for 15 and 20 years.

In the foreseeable future, European countries will not be able to make a rapid transition from the domestic energy market to renewable energy sources, Bloomberg reported based on data from industry analysts at the end of June. The publication reported that China and some European importers continue to conclude contracts for the supply of liquefied natural gas. Analysts say China has signed deals to purchase liquefied natural gas after 2050, and European importers aren’t far behind either. They assumed that LNG demand from the United States would continue “for decades”.
