At the first reading, deputies of the State Duma (State Duma) passed a bill implying the introduction of a tax (unexpected tax) on the excess profits of companies from among large companies in Russia. We are talking about the one-time contribution of Russian companies with an average profit of more than 1 billion rubles excluding taxes for 2021-2022, reported on the website of the lower house of parliament.

The main goal of the tax innovation will be the creation of additional federal budget revenues on the background of international sanctions imposed on Russia by Western countries. The tax rate for the unexpected tax will be 10%. According to Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, thanks to this measure, it is planned to replenish the federal budget in the amount of about 300 billion rubles.

“The Draft Law on Excess Earnings Tax was accepted at the first reading. Its author was the Government of the Russian Federation. The document was developed to generate additional federal budget revenues. The bill proposes to introduce an additional profit tax for organizations with an arithmetic average profit of more than 1 billion rubles for 2021 and 2022.
