The Russian Ministry of Finance is discussing the possibility of changing the formula for collecting taxes from oil sales, which will increase budget revenues. About this “Vedomosti” declaration Deputy Head of Department Aleksey Sazanov.
“The first option was to reduce the maximum discount to reference grade Brent from $25 to $20 per barrel. There is no decision on this yet, which means it is impossible to predict from when the new maximum discount will take effect.” ”said Sazanov.
According to him, another way to change the formula would be to link to the price of the Dubai variety. This option will be discussed by the department in the fall. In this case, the discount will decrease to $15-16 instead of $20.
The source of the publication noted that the second option is the most correct in meaning, but rather complicated. The first is pretty simple, but there will be constant debates about the size of the discount. At the same time, market experts added that with the increase in oil prices in the world, the size of the discount in Russian fuel will increase. This will happen because of the ceiling price of $60 per barrel.
At the end of January, Vedomosti newspaper, citing sources close to the government and one of the oil companies, WroteIt is reported that Russian authorities have started to discuss a possible change in the principles of calculating the price of oil used for tax purposes. The most realistic option is to tie the price of the Urals to Brent or Dubai Crude Oil at a certain discount.
