Prices for cherries, nectarines and peaches in Russia fell by more than half as new crops from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and southern Russia hit store shelves. In an interview with Sputnik radio, declaration Leonid Kholod, doctor of economics, agricultural market analyst.

“Watch out for fruits and vegetables that grow here as well, but ripen later than when they were brought from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. Previously, their price was a perfect “space”, and now they are falling, ”said Kholod.

According to him, sweet cherries in May cost about 1000-1200 rubles. Now its price is at the level of 400-500 rubles. A similar situation is experienced in the prices of nectarines, peaches and apricots.

He added that the price of nectarine from the new harvest has decreased from 800-900 rubles per kilo to 250-300 rubles. Therefore, the more fruits are brought, the lower their price. The price drop will be even stronger when the domestic crop is largely on store shelves.

According to him, this will primarily affect the vegetables and fruits grown in the country.
