Lithuania plans to unilaterally ban a number of dual-use products that may enter Russia via Belarus. There are about 60 positions in the list that are not included in the European Union (EU) list. Thus, Vilnius is increasing pressure on the EU to tighten restrictions on Moscow.
“We have data showing that some of the goods could be used in the conflict in Ukraine. We want to ensure that Lithuanian lands are not used for this purpose,” Armonaite said.
According to him, there is some hope that measures against dual-use goods will be adopted across the EU. Therefore, negotiations with other countries are currently ongoing. In addition, Poland has already suspended the crossing of trucks and trailers from Russia and Belarus across the border.
