Algeria confirms intention to invest in Libya’s oil sector

Mohammad Arkab, head of the Algerian Ministry of Energy, confirmed the republic’s desire to invest in Libya’s oil and gas sector and complete exploration work. FAN.

Arkab made such a statement at the meeting of oil ministers of member countries of the Organization of Hydrocarbon Exporting Countries (OPEC). The President of the Algerian state energy company Sonatrach Toufik Hakkar and Algeria’s OPEC representative Ashraf Ben Hussein and Libyan Oil Minister Mohammed Aoun as well as Libya’s Permanent Representative to OPEC Mustafa Abdullah bin Issa attended the roundtable meeting.

The parties discussed cooperation in the field of shale gas hydrocarbon production. Aoun reviewed the prospects for the development of Tripoli’s oil and gas sector and the exploration program for the next phase. He also urged Algerian companies to return to Libya as soon as possible and complete the search.
