Sber signed a technology partnership agreement with the Center for Biometric Technologies (CBT) at the Digital Industry of Industrial Russia conference held in Nizhny Novgorod. This was reported by the press service of the bank.
Collaboration includes the coordination of actions in the creation and development of biometric technologies and services. The document was signed by Oksana Smirnova-Krell, Vice President of Ecosystem Technological Development at Sberbank, and Vladislav Povolotsky, CEO of CBT.
According to Smirnova-Krell, Sber processes more than five million authentication transactions per month using biometrics for three million unique customers. At the same time, more than 30 million people have entrusted their biometric data to the bank.
“Now, we are preparing to transfer biometric data to the state’s Unified Biometric System within the framework of the new legislation. We start informing and transferring data as early as June – of course, only if customers are not bothered by it. Considering our size and number of customers, things ahead are not easy. “However, we will fully comply with regulatory requirements and provide customers with a seamless transition to a new storage and use system for invisible biometrics.”
The top manager emphasized that signing an agreement with the CBRT will enable us to do this in the most efficient way and contribute to the further development of biometric services in our country.”
In turn, Povolotsky said that Sber, in addition to complying with the law, is actively developing biometric technologies and offering new services.
“In bank branches, you can register in the Unified Biometric System, and then receive bank services remotely: open accounts and deposits, apply for loans without meeting face to face. This ensures that necessary financial transactions can be made from anywhere in the country. “In the future, together with Sber, we will examine users’ needs and work on new services where biometrics can be used.”
