To date, representatives of the Russian film industry experience a high level of dependence on the import of foreign cameras. There is a shortage of Russian cameras and equipment for shooting new films in the domestic market, informs RBC with reference to industry companies.
The document states that currently the share of foreign film equipment in the Russian market is 90%. Domestic manufacturers do not have the capacity to replace foreign brands in the face of international trade and economic sanctions. It will be difficult to help increase the share of Russian technology without government subsidies for the sector.
“90% of the Russian film industry is supplied by foreign equipment and currently has no domestic counterparts and therefore the industry is in critical need of government subsidies. Import substitution in the production of equipment and software for film production is a process that can take years or even decades and is extremely important to the film industry.”
