Iraqi Oil Minister Hayan Abdel Ghani said on Tuesday that Baghdad expects a final response from Turkey on the resumption of oil exports from Turkey’s Ceyhan port. In this respect informs Reuters.

“The Turkish side has informed the Iraqi government that it is currently assessing whether the pipeline was damaged as a result of the devastating February earthquake,” the minister said.

Fuel supply via the Kirkuk-Ceyhan pipeline was stopped on 25 March 2023. This happened after Turkey lost the Iraq case, which began in 2014, in Paris’ international arbitration. Iraq has made it illegal for Turkish authorities to allow Iraqi Kurds to export oil without the control of Iraqi officials.

Iraqi and Turkish authorities tentatively agreed to restart oil supply from Ceyhan port on April 4. On 12 May, the Iraqi Ministry of Oil announced the renewal of contracts with international companies for supply from the port of Ceyhan, in accordance with the requirements of the Iraqi marketing company SOMO. 13 May Iraq continued Oil exports from Iraqi Kurdistan.
