The Central Bank of Russia has created its own independent financial system, in which 80% of banks in the post-Soviet space already participate. This is Alexei Overchuk, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, in his speech at the meeting of the XIV International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum”, transmits TASS.
“Today we are focused primarily on building our own independent financial system, a system for verifying financial messages. Today, about 80% of banks in the post-Soviet space are connected to this system,” Overchuk said.
According to him, Russia carries out active integration processes within the EEU. In addition, in the first quarter of 2023, 89% of trade was carried out in national currencies. All this speaks of the creation of a truly independent financial system.
He added that, within the framework of the EAEU, negotiations are underway with a number of Islamic states, including Egypt, Iran, the United Arab Emirates and Indonesia, to create free trade zones.
