The Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs advised Borrell to familiarize himself with European Union (EU) regulations before making any claims regarding Russian oil. In this respect writer Times of India newspaper.
The ministry announced that Russian oil that has been processed significantly in a third country is no longer considered Russian. Therefore, India has the right to import and supply fully processed petroleum products regardless of the country in which they are produced.
The publication noted that India has increased its oil purchases from Russia so much that by March 2023 its share has reached 35%. In addition, India is a major supplier of this fuel to Europe, and its supply to the European region has tripled with the start of a special operation in Ukraine.
