French Energy Transition Minister Agnès Pannier-Runachet said that France will not cancel its contract with Russia to process regenerated uranium from nuclear fuel because it would be more profitable for Russia. He announced this on the broadcast of the TV channel BFM Business.

“This refusal will benefit Russia far more than what the agreement brings them now, so we will not serve Russia,” he said.

U.S. Department of Energy Chair Jennifer Granholm during a hearing before the Congressional Senate Armed Services Committee statedHe hopes congress aid in a strategy to secure uranium supplies independent of Russia.

At the same time, according to him, the USA does not have the same capabilities as Russia and China in processing nuclear fuel, including plutonium.

Robert Habek, Deputy Chancellor of Germany, Minister of Economy and Climate Protection, said that it is valuable to impose sanctions on countries that continue to buy uranium from Russia despite what is happening in Ukraine.
