The amount of compensation set for tax crimes in 2022 amounted to 81.6 billion rubles. At the same time, in cases of tax crimes, the defendants compensated 50.2 billion rubles of this amount. About this in an interview with TASS said Alexander Bastrykin, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.
“Last year, the total amount of damage compensated in cases of criminal tax offenses was 50.2 billion rubles, the amount of damage determined was 81.6 billion rubles. In 2021, the rate was: 44.4 billion rubles versus 72.3 billion rubles,” Bastrykin said.
According to him, the effectiveness of the work to ensure full compensation for the damage caused by tax crimes is evidenced by the specific gravity of the damage to be compensated. It was 45% in 2019, 52% in 2020, 61% in 2021, and 62% in 2022. Bastrykin summarized that in tax crimes cases, defendants tend to have full compensation for their losses.
In 2022, a total of more than 2,000 criminal cases related to tax offenses were filed and 1,090 criminal cases were referred to the courts. “Tax evasion as a phenomenon is always present, but the task of the state is to counteract it as much as possible by developing and implementing a wide variety of measures, including state coercion,” Bastrykin said.
