Russia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region reminded citizens of three simple steps to determine the authenticity of banknotes, to forward “Nevsky news”. The department noted that most of the time, scammers falsify large denominations of one thousand, two thousand and five thousand rubles.
First of all, the bill needs to be examined in the light. A banknote with a face value of one thousand rubles must have a security strip, micro-perforations in the form of the number 1000, a combined watermark – the portrait of Yaroslav the Wise and the number 1000.
Law enforcement is then advised to tactilely examine the bill. The emblem of the Bank of Russia, the text “Bank of Russia Ticket”, lines on the edges and a label for the visually impaired should be felt.
And finally, experts recommend paying attention to the markings when the banknote is in a vertical position. A bright horizontal stripe moving along the coat of arms, multi-colored stripes on the field, as well as the letters PP – light or vice versa, on a dark background should appear.
Office workers point out that counterfeit banknotes are mostly found in small shops and markets. It is recommended that the coin is checked for authenticity before the goods exchange is completed.
Petr Gusyatnikov, formerly Senior Managing Partner at PG Partners saidNew rules on banknotes and coins will come out in Russia.
