In the January-March 2023 period, retail sales of cider, mead and poire (pear cider) increased by 30% year-on-year to 2.05 million decaliters. In this respect Wrote Vedomosti newspaper, which refers to data from the Unified State Automated Information System (EGAIS). The dynamics of the newspaper was confirmed by the analytical company NielsenIQ.
Experts interviewed by the newspaper believe the trend is due to the low base effect – the small volume of production for which this beverage as a whole has achieved double-digit growth figures. At the same time, consumers began to switch to more natural beverages, including cider.
Vyacheslav Mamontov, Director of the Association of Brewers, said that the mass consumer is actively buying cider and is trying to fulfill the wishes of the producers, actively developing this segment. According to him, at the end of last year, Ochakovo and Soyuz-vino announced the start of production of such a drink.
Previously, during 2022 the majority of Russians has not changed habits and more or less did not drink and smoke.
