The refusal of foreign banks to carry out financial transactions of Russian IT companies subject to Ukrainian sanctions is more likely to be associated with individual decisions of certain financial institutions than with the policy of state central banks. Such an opinion in an interview with RIA Novosti expression Denis Kuskov, CEO of TelecomDaily. According to him, in this case, it would make sense to open an account in another bank in the country.
Earlier on Monday, the newspaper Vedomosti, citing sources, wrote that against the background of Ukrainian sanctions, Russian IT companies began to be refused financial transactions by foreign credit institutions.
“… It is unclear why the banks took such a decision. There are two choices. First: It is the decision of the country’s central bank, and then all banks follow in that order. The second option is for each bank to start doing something of its own. So far, it seems to me that this is the second option. And in this case, it would make sense to open an account in another bank in the country,” said the expert, (quotation by the Prime Minister).
In mid-April, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky imposed special sanctions on 254 Russian and Belarusian companies for ten years. Among them are Yandex, Rambler and other IT enterprises.
