Reuters: Kazakhstan overtakes Russia to increase oil supply six times in January-March period

Between January and March, Kazakhstan shipped 163.4 thousand tons of oil along the Aktau-Baku sea route, bypassing Russia, which was six times more than in the previous year. In this respect informs Reuters cites Refinitiv data and industry sources.

Deliveries from the Caspian port of Aktau to Baku (the main road through Russia) in January-March amounted to 163.4 thousand tons. This is six times more than the same period of 2022 (28.8 thousand tons).

The publication pointed out that in the first quarter of 2023, another 104 thousand tons of oil was sent through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline. In addition, Kazakhstan supplies more than 80,000 tons of oil to China every month.

According to Reuters, it has increased sharply over the past year due to the start of a special operation in Ukraine, despite small quantities of supplies from Kazakhstan. While the supply volume from alternative routes was 638 thousand tons in 2021, it reached 1.8 million tons in 2022.
