Belarusian citizen arrested in USA for circumventing anti-Russian sanctions

US authorities arrested Sergei Karpuskin, a 46-year-old Belarusian citizen, for violating sanctions against businessman Sergei Kurchenko and his two companies. It has been reported press office US Department of Justice.

According to the Justice Department, Karpushkin was involved in a plan to purchase steelmaking materials for $150 million in violation of US sanctions.

It is stated that the USA placed Kurchenko on the sanctions list in 2015 in connection with the events in Ukraine. Karpushkin was involved in a crime plot for three years as an accomplice to Florida resident John Unsalan.

Karpuskin is accused of conspiracy to circumvent US sanctions. He is facing up to 20 years in prison.
