Investor Shostak: US debt burden is too high

The situation in the US government debt will lead to the depreciation of the dollar. Such an opinion in an interview with TASS expression Kyle Szostak, director of the American investment firm Navigator Principal Investors.

“According to the International Monetary Fund, debt levels at the current borrowing rate could reach 135% of GDP by 2026, not 2028. The investor believes that the US debt burden is approaching in an absolutely prohibitive way, threatening to depreciate the dollar and reduce the state’s ability to invest in innovative development.

According to him, in February 2023, the total federal debt of the United States exceeded $31 trillion, amounting to 125% of the gross domestic product (GDP).

17 April European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde statedThat the US authorities cannot allow a default in the country as it would have serious negative consequences for the entire international community. The ECB chief believes that if the default cannot be avoided, it will affect the whole world.

At the same time, Professor Nouriel Roubini, who had previously predicted the 2008 crisis, allowed recession in the USA.
