Russian President’s Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov commented on the decision of the arbitration court at the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague, which ordered Russia to pay $5 billion in compensation to Naftogaz Ukrainy for “damage in Crimea”.
“Actually, this case took place. It’s not new. But the solution is new. It needs to be analyzed. And our experts, who are engaged in protecting our rights in this matter, will now analyze and decide on the next actions,” he said.
Earlier, Ukrainian Naftogaz reported that the arbitration court at the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague has ordered Russia to pay Naftogaz Ukrainy $5 billion in compensation for “damage in Crimea”. The report states that “the Russian Federation is obliged to pay such compensation to Naftogaz for damage caused by the seizure of assets in Crimea.”
The court’s decision was given on April 12. Naftogaz noted that they lost “drilling rigs, gas pipelines, their own fleet and administrative buildings” on the territory of Crimea.
