Banks in Cuba start accepting cash dollars again for deposits in citizens’ accounts

Cuban credit institutions are again accepting US dollars as cash to credit their customers’ accounts. In this respect Wrote Granma newspaper citing a message from the Central Bank of Cuba.

“From now on, financial and banking institutions will accept cash deposits in US dollars into their bank accounts, and that currency will remain the same in foreign exchange transactions in the market.”

As noted in Bank of Cuba, officials took such a step in the face of continued pressure from the United States. Beginning to accept the dollar allowed “the revival of tourism and the gradual restoration of industrial activity.”
