Comtrade: Israel becomes largest importer of Russian vodka in 2022

Last year, Israel became the largest importer of Russian vodka. Over the course of 12 months, the country has more than quadrupled its purchases of such alcohol – to $24.7 million, informs RIA Novosti with reference to the statistics of the BM Comtrade platform.

“Israel became the world leader in vodka imports from Russia last year, and has more than quadrupled this product in monetary terms, from $5.7 million a year ago to $24.7 million,” the article says.

Germany and Armenia were also among the leaders in purchasing Russian vodka. These countries were responsible for total imports of $7.5 million and $6.9 million, respectively. The article also states that both states have significantly reduced their intake of this alcohol from Russia at the end of last year.

“Germany took second place, reducing Russian vodka imports to $7.5 million from $43.4 million imported in 2021. Armenia entered the top three in 2022, despite nearly halving its vodka imports from Russia from $13.2 million a year ago to $6.9 million.
