A roadmap was signed between Russia and Nicaragua, which opens up opportunities for peaceful atomic cooperation. According to previous agreements, the parties committed to raise awareness of the population of the Latin American country about nuclear technologies, to develop nuclear infrastructure and to promote the non-energy use of nuclear energy in industry, agriculture and medicine.
The non-energy use of nuclear energy is generally understood as, for example, the desalination of water, the production of hydrogen as a fuel, and its use in industry.
