Baghdad won against Ankara in the long-term process of exporting oil from the autonomous region of Iraqi Kurdistan in the International Court of Arbitration at the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris. TV channel reported Orient Referring to a representative of the Iraqi oil industry.
The source said, “Turkey has officially informed Iraq that it will respect the arbitral decision in the export of oil from Iraqi Kurdistan.”
According to him, Turkey will not allow the export of Iraqi Kurdistan oil from the Turkish seaside port of Ceyhan without the approval of the federal Iraqi government in Baghdad.
The case has been under review for almost 9 years since 2024. Baghdad filed a lawsuit after the Turkish state oil and gas company BOTAŞ began exporting the oil delivered from Iraqi Kurdistan to the world market without the official permission and approval of the Iraqi government.
Iraqi Kurdistan is an autonomous region within Iraq on the border with Turkey. Turkish Air Force (Air Force) in November 2022 continued Air strikes on the territory of Iraqi Kurdistan located in Northern Iraq.
