In an interview, it was said that even record gas supplies to China would not be able to cover Nord Stream’s losses. Pravda.Ru Aleksey Gromov, Chief Energy Director of the Institute of Energy and Finance, therefore, commented on the information that in January 2023, Russia is the leader in the supply of blue fuel to China.
“Of course, there are still sources of liquefied natural gas (LNG). However, if we achieve a maximum delivery volume of 38 billion cubic meters per year as we planned, this will still not compensate for the loss of Nord Stream, which we supply 55 billion cubic meters to Western European countries.” Gromov explained.
He added that by 2024 Moscow could launch up to 10 billion cubic meters of additional pipeline gas supplies from Sakhalin Island to China. However, the expert concluded that even with such a scenario, it would not be possible to reach the Nord Stream level.
Former Energy Minister Fatih Dönmez declarationIt was stated that with the hub to be created in the country, approximately 40 billion cubic meters of gas supply will be possible.
