Russian fiber optic and cable manufacturers have asked authorities to impose a 15% tariff on imported products, as companies from China begin to flood the already shrinking market. In this respect writer Kommersant cites a letter from Andrey Zarenin, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Digital Development, to operators and specialist associations.
Document, fiber optic, telecommunications and power cables, etc.
Market experts agree that cable manufacturers are afraid of being pulled out of the market. We are talking about the fact that after the implementation of a series of sanctions, the only Russian manufacturer of optical fibers stopped receiving preforms purchased from a company from Japan. At the same time, the search for alternative supplies led to a temporary decrease in production, so customers had to buy in China. However, the Ministry of Industry and Trade stated that the fiber optic production capacity in the country is quite sufficient to meet the needs of the domestic market.
The publication added that the cable consumers themselves oppose the introduction of the taxes, as this step could adversely affect the work of the operators. At the same time, some market participants support the introduction of taxes, but only for goods that can be produced in Russia.
Referring to the letter written by Olga Grekova, Director General of the Lighting Engineering Consortium, Kommersant on January 9, to Yury Plyasunov, Head of the Department of Radio-Electronics Industry at the Ministry of Industry and Trade, WroteHe said Russian electronics manufacturers are asking the government to increase import duties on foreign lighting equipment and components by 10-15% to stimulate demand for domestic components.
