German Chancellor of the State of Saxony Michael Kretschmer said that economic relations between Germany and Russia could be re-established in a few years with the commissioning of the Nord Stream gas pipeline. He said this in an interview with a German magazine. Focus.
In answering the question of why Nord Stream is needed now and whether it will supply gas from Russia to Germany again, as the politician puts it, the energy policy is to “keep the options open”.
Kretschmer reminded that this infrastructure costs about 8 billion euros and can be used to transport hydrogen as well as gas.
According to him, this pipeline could be a way for the next Russian president to re-establish economic ties with Germany. Nord Stream now needs to be repaired so “there is an option in five years,” he said.
Former Russian President Vladimir Putin declarationThat Nord Stream has a future if partners from Western countries “renew their instinct of national interest”.
