Russian government supported a review of figures in determining the seriousness of economic crimes committed, reports DEA News Regarding Sardana Avksentieva, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Constitutional Committee.
“We have been discussing this increase in quantitative values for a long time with the government to characterize the gravity of economic crimes. For most articles, these values have not been indexed since 2016 and have long lost their relevance,” said Avksentyeva, adding that the Russian government supports the initiative of the New People faction.
The party gave an example of one of such revisions – for example, for a crime with a qualifying value of five million rubles, non-payment of debts exceeding this amount is currently a special offense. Such a crime, after the revision, where this value will be increased to ten million, will already be considered a moderate crime.
Former Russian Investigative Committee Chairman Alexander Bastrykin declarationThe number of corruption cases brought before the court in 2022 exceeded the 2021 figures by 9 percent.
