The RBC publication reported that the German concern Henkel, which produces cosmetics and household chemicals under the brands Schwarzkopf, Syoss, Fa, Persil, plans to close its business in Russia by the end of March this year. The publication refers to the company’s statements.
“In the first months of the special operation, we received many questions regarding our future business in Russia, including public criticism for not announcing our immediate withdrawal from the country,” Henkel said.
In the statements, it is stated that Henkel cannot stop its activities in Russia immediately, as it has been in the domestic market for more than 30 years and has approximately 2.5 thousand employees.
On February 9, 2023, Henkel CEO Carsten Knobel said in an interview with WirtschaftsWoche that the German concern will completely cease its operations in Russia in the first quarter of this year. Knobel also said that final negotiations on this deal are ongoing.
On April 19, Henkel announced that it plans to exit the Russian market. “In light of current events, we have decided to cease our activities in Russia. The execution process is currently being prepared,” explained Henkel.
