Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission (EC), said that last summer, Europeans’ gas and electricity bills rose 300% due to reduced Russian supplies. It has been reported TASS.

He noted that Russia reduced gas supplies to Europe by 80 percent in eight months, and energy prices soared last summer.

“Our electricity and gas bills have increased by 300%,” von der Leyen said in a speech to the Canadian Parliament.

According to him, it is alleged that Russia is blackmailing gas supplies to Europe. But as the head of the EC pointed out, the leadership of the European Union managed to find an alternative to Russian fuel.

He especially mentioned that Canada has increased its liquefied natural gas exports to Europe. In addition, Europeans themselves have reduced their energy consumption by 20%.
