This is due to unfavorable conditions for corn harvest in Argentina and rice harvest in China, as Igor Shpakov, adviser to the organization’s branch for relations with the Russian Federation, pointed out at the Winter Grain Conference.
At the same time, Shpakov noted that the world wheat harvest this season will increase by 2.02% to reach 794 million tons. The FAO representative stated that the figures will break records, exceeding last year’s figures by 16 million tons.
