The growth rate of online food sales in Russia is slowing and turnover in the first quarter of 2023 may increase by only 4% compared to last year. In this respect writer Kommersant cites Infoline analysts’ estimates.
According to the results of the first quarter of 2023, online food sales in Russia will grow by at least 4% compared to the previous year, but will remain below the level of the fourth quarter of 2022 at 182 billion rubles. According to analysts, the turnover of the e-market market in the first quarter of 2022 was 163 billion rubles. the second – 138 billion rubles, the third – 142 billion rubles, the fourth – 182 billion rubles. On an annual basis, market growth rates decreased from 130% to 30% at the end of last year.
The company’s analysts expect the market to grow strongly in the fourth quarter of 2022, driven by increased investment in marketing and the share of promotion among the biggest players. In addition, consumer interest has led to further development of the marketplace channel.
Market participants added that they are working on the relevance of their services, expanding their product range and their own. Also, some of the growth in sales was supported by an increase in warehouse space. Market experts noted that buyers are very sensitive to price changes, so promotions and marketing bonuses will be the main driver of the market.
