At the beginning of the 4th quarter of 2022, the French company Engie took legal action against Gazprom Export due to the gas shortage. TASS referring to the company’s annual report.
He states that the company plans to provide recognition for Gazprom’s failure to fulfill its gas supply obligations, as well as payment of fines under the contract and compensation for losses incurred by the Russian company’s fault.
Engie said that Gazprom Export significantly reduced gas supplies in June 2022, and then unilaterally cut the supply at the end of summer 2022 “due to disagreements between the parties over the implementation of the agreements”.
Gazprom in August last year stoped Engie gas supplies. The company said it did not receive full payment from the French company for the gas supplied to it in July under existing contracts. Gazprom recalled the effect of the decree of the President of the Russian Federation on the prohibition of the supply of natural gas to a foreign buyer in case of non-payment by the buyer.
