IMF: Ukraine’s inflation slows and slight economic recovery expected

In a video conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the head of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, said that inflation has slowed in Ukraine and a moderate economic recovery is expected this year. Reuters.

“Thanks to the joint efforts of the Government … and the Central Bank of Ukraine, all the quantitative and indicative targets for the end of December, as well as all five structural targets for the end of January, were met,” said Georgieva.

It was also discussed that the IMF should discuss a support program with the Ukrainian government for the country’s accession to the European Union.

“This agreement, which must be approved by the fund management, paves the way for the start of negotiations on a full-fledged support program from the fund,” the fund said in a statement.
