The Department of Labor has finalized the bill, which voiced the possibility of repayment of debts to employees of bankrupt enterprises at the expense of the federal budget. In this respect writer “Rossiyskaya Gazeta”, which refers to the received document.
Salaries unpaid three months before the business or company is declared bankrupt can be repaid at the expense of the federal budget. At the same time, it was noted that the payment amount cannot exceed the average three-month wage in the region where the debtor-employer is located.
According to Alexander Safonov, a professor at the Finance University of the Government of the Russian Federation, the pre-bankruptcy debt of enterprises can reach 30% on average. It is extremely difficult for a business to return such sums because the lengthy bankruptcy procedure devalues the funds due to inflation. Therefore, within the scope of the new application, employees can receive their payments without waiting for the end of the procedure. In this way, the purchasing power of wages is preserved.
The publication noted that at the end of 2021, employers owe their employees 2,109 billion rubles. At the same time, only 560.5 million rubles were paid.
