It is clear that motorists warm up their engines before driving. And residents of apartment buildings suffer from this, and not everyone is affected equally.
If the cars are not close to the house, then the residents of the first and second floors are not very cramped, said the expert “Behind the wheel” Alexey Revin. The fact is that the exhaust gases are warm, and therefore lighter than air, and rise quite quickly. Then they cool down and hang at a height of about 10 meters above the ground.
“So the residents of the third floor are the worst. At the top, of course, gases also enter, especially the most volatile substances, but the dilution with clean air is increasing. At a height of more than 15-20 meters (floors from the fifth to the seventh) above ground level, the concentration becomes about three times less, ”the expert notes.
Neighbors hot cars under the window? – Lucky for the fifth and seventh floors.
