Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said that the ceiling price mechanism for oil and petroleum products may cause supply shortages and increase prices. He told this to reporters TASS.

According to him, this is “interference in market relations and the continuation of the destructive energy policy of the collective Western countries.”

Earlier, Novak said that risks remain to reduce oil production in Russia in 2023.

He noted that the government will soon assess these risks.

On February 1, the head of the International Energy Agency (IEA), Fatih Birol, admitted that by 2023 Russia will reduce its oil production by 1 million barrels per day.

According to his estimation, to be due to increased Western sanctions against the country’s energy sector. Birol noted that lowering this indicator in Russia may cause fluctuations in the global energy market.
