The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine has asked the French authorities for 1 million euros to inspect the bunker of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant (ChNPP). This was stated in the press service of the department.
“EUR 1 million is needed to examine the unstable structures of the shelter,” the report says.
The press service of the Ministry reported that the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Oleksandr Krasnolutsky and the French Ambassador Etienne de Ponsin visited the forbidden zone. They entered the new bunker, which became operational two years ago.
As stated in the department, the shelter was built with the support of donation funds from international allies, and Ukraine has also taken care of the structure.
“Ukraine now counts on the support of its French partners,” the message says.
In July, the Chernobyl nuclear power plant officially passed World Association of Organizations Operating Nuclear Power Plants from Moscow to Paris Headquarters.
