Tequila production in Mexico has increased 500% since 1994 08:05

The volume of tequila production in Mexico and the supply of this beverage to other countries have increased by more than 500% over the past three decades. writes about it TASS Citing Ramon González Figueroa, director of the Tequila Regulatory Council (RTRC). Gonzalez explained that in 1994 Mexico produced 80 million liters of tequila, and today – 651 million liters. Thus, the growth was 526 percent.

416.8 million liters of this volume were shipped abroad.

The RSPT has registered 2,148 beverage brands, of which 1,682 are owned by Mexican companies.

An alcoholic beverage is obtained by distillation of blue agave juice. The center of its production is the state of Jalisco, where the city of Tequila is located. Most tequila is purchased from the United States, where more than 80% of its total export volume comes from. Other important buyers: Germany, Spain, France, England, Canada, Italy, Austria and Japan.
