“The bill establishing a self-prohibition mechanism for lending and borrowing has passed interdepartmental coordination, received conceptual market support and is being prepared for submission to the State Duma,” the Central Bank said.
Alexei Voylukov, vice-president of the Russian Banks Association (ADB), told the agency that banks “conceptually agreed” with the proposed mechanism. Voylukov noted that its implementation would require changes in credit histories and consumer credit laws.
He explained that the self-ban posted on the portal will automatically go to the credit bureau. Banks will be able to see the determined limits when sending a request to the bureau after receiving a loan application.
Bank of Russia presented Give the Russians an opportunity to ban new loans in the summer of 2022. According to the Central Bank, thanks to this mechanism, a citizen “will be able to protect himself from the situation when fraudsters issue a loan or debt on his behalf.”
