Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva urged markets not to worry about his left-wing government and promised to draft a political strategy within 100 days. He expressed this in an interview with reporters.
The newly elected head of state, who served from 2003 to 2010, said markets should not worry about his Labor-led government. He reminded that under his rule the country has always had positive economic indicators.
Lula da Silva emphasized that he intends to develop political measures within 100 days to bring the countries back to normal. The announcement came amid deep polarization that resulted in riots in the country and attacks on Congress, the Federal Supreme Court and the presidential palace.
Lula noted that the January 8 attack on government buildings in Brasilia by supporters of former president Jair Bolsonaro was a “serious warning” about the danger of the ex-president’s radical supporters.
“We will be tougher and more careful in the future. We need to find out who is funding these actions, because this puts democracy in jeopardy,” says Lulu. FAN.
He said he did not plan to sack Defense Minister José Musiu because he trusted him after the incident.
