Interia: high gas prices cause porcelain production closure in Poland

High gas prices have halted production at the 200-year-old Krzysztof porcelain factory in Walbrzych. The publication informed the company’s local labor department that it plans to lay off 70 people “in connection with the liquidation of the plant.”

According to the publication, some of the dismissed employees will receive compensation in the amount of three months’ salary, and some of them only one salary.

The Krzysztof porcelain factory went into operation in 1831. After a while, the business became one of the largest porcelain manufacturers in the region. The factory employed 320 people before the coronavirus pandemic and produced 10 million pieces of tableware per year.
